Muscle Testing (Behavioral Kinesiology)

The ring in ring method (pictured on left) is one way of self muscle testing. There are several other methods: the sway test, the elbow test, the finger pad test. Use the one that works best for you.

The technique called applied kinesiology originated in 1964 with Dr. George Goodheart, a chiropractor who used the technique to evaluate how well the nervous system controlled muscle function.

Based on Dr. Goodheart’s work, applied kinesiology has been modified for a variety of uses, over the years.

In the late 1970’s, Dr. John Diamond, who worked as a psychiatrist and with preventative medicine, discovered that indicator muscles would strengthen or weaken in the presence of positive or negative emotional and intellectual stimuli, not just physical stimuli. He called this method of using kinesiology Behavioral Kinesiology.

“Behavioral Kinesiology uses the basic testing techniques of Applied Kinesiology, but focuses on the factors in the patient’s surroundings and life-style that are raising and lowering body energy.” Your Body Doesn’t Lie,” by John Diamond, M.D.

In the world of energy medicine this type of kinesiology or Behavioral Kinesiology is often called muscle testing. It is a way of communicating with the subconscious mind by asking yes or no questions and testing muscle strength in response to the question. In a way, it works on the same premise as a lie detector.

According to Dr. Bradley Nelson, the use of muscle testing while using the Body Code is a way of accessing the brain’s computer.

He states that: “All organisms, no matter how primitive, will respond to positive or negative stimuli….Your body will normally be drawn toward positive things or thoughts and repelled by negative things or ideas.” “The Emotion Code,” Dr. Bradley Nelson

Muscle testing is not fortune telling, nor is not a way to make life decisions or choices. It’s a way to tune into and learn to listen to the subconscious mind and the energy fields and frequencies in and around our bodies. It’s used to check for imbalances and trapped/stuck energy in the body and energy fields and systems – not to diagnose illness or prescribe medications.

To effectively receive answers about health issues using behavioral kinesiology, the mind and heart must be clear of conscious, pre-conceived wishes, desires, and feelings. The tester must be present and listening with the intention of receiving true information from the subconscious mind and energy fields of the person being tested.

It’s not 100% accurate, but not many ways of measuring imbalances or dis-ease in the mind and body are. It is a helpful tool in discovering the negative emotions and imbalances in our bodies, the negative stories – so that we can change those stories.
