Personal Pain Story
Until I was in my late 20’s, healing usually meant consulting with doctors, and over the counter remedies or prescriptions meant to address physical symptoms. If someone would have talked to me about energy healing during that time, I would have considered them “a little out there.”
However, over the years, through a number of what seemed to be serendipitous experiences, I have become open to the idea that everything is energy, and that emotional or energetic imbalances often show up as pain in our physical bodies.
Not too long ago, I attended the funeral of a woman I loved and respected. Within a week of the funeral, her grieving husband – someone I also respected as an authority figure, began to communicate with me through phone calls and email. The gist of the communication was that he wanted to begin a dating relationship.
I was shocked! It felt inappropriate and very uncomfortable, so uncomfortable that I asked him to not contact me any more.
Around that same time, my right knee became so painful I could hardly walk. Instead of going to a regular medical doctor, I tried using the energy healing tools I had spent years learning and practicing. I used the Body Code, EFT, tuning forks, and herbal support – everything I could think of.
Nothing changed.
Finally, I felt impressed to go see a chiropractor I trusted, one who understood both the art of physical alignment as well as the possibility that underlying emotions might create the physical symptoms.
When he examined my knee, he found that it was significantly out of alignment. The adjustment was quite painful, but there was immediate relief.
As we chatted during the adjustment he said, “You know that the right side of the body is associated with male energy, right? Is there a difficult relationship with a man going on in your life?”
“As a matter of fact,” I replied, “there is.”
The light bulb went on. I made an immediate connection, between the awkward situation and the pain I had been enduring. I went home armed with the specific knowledge I needed to clear the emotional energy directly connected with the distressing relationship situation. The pain subsided and then totally disappeared.
As I considered this experience, I realized that my understanding of healing had completely changed. Years earlier, I would have only looked for a physical explanation. Who knows how long it would have taken my knee to heal? Or if it would ever have fully recovered?
Now I see healing differently: physical symptoms often point to deeper emotional imbalances. Healing often begins when we’re willing to listen to the whole story our body is trying to tell us.
There has been no pain in that knee since. It’s fully functional.
Mobility Reclaimed
I had been working together with this client over a period of time. We had addressed a number of different issues over the years.
In this particular session she mentioned the pain in her shoulders. It was acute, and had been bothering her for a long time.
She was barely able to lift her arm toward her shoulders , and totally unable to raise her arms above her head without feeling extreme pain. The pain was so debilitating that it had created the need for someone to help her dress. She needed assistance to put on a t-shirt, or any piece of clothing that involved pulling it over her head. Neither was it possible for her to reach behind her to fasten or unfasten clothing without great discomfort. She was also having a difficult time getting a full night of sleep because of the pain.
We decided to focus specifically on the root cause of the pain being caused by the osteoarthritis. Using applied kinesiology, we identified and released a number of trapped emotions, and limiting beliefs. At the end of our 50-minute session I asked her how she was feeling.
With a look of surprise and excitement, she said the pain had subsided significantly. She raised both her arms above her head, and said, I haven’t been able to do this in years. She was overjoyed, and so was I. She has since told me pain no longer keeps her from having a good night of rest.
Seeing a client feel such powerful relief from pain was a joyful moment for me. It’s why I do the energy work I do.
